Chapter 12: Jumping Back to Podcasts and Blogs

Image
I have to admit, I got a bit carried away while crafting my blog posts about the Stukent book. I was so pumped about the content that I ended up skipping over chapter twelve, which delves into the world of blogs, vlogs, podcasts, and webinars. I've been honing my skills in these areas for six whole weeks now, and even had the chance to create a podcast on marketing with social media. These topics are great when it comes to promoting brands and products, and getting consumers hooked on what you're selling.      One area of focus in this chapter that deserves a closer look is the utilization of blogs in marketing strategies. Blogs have the potential to humanize a brand and facilitate word-of-mouth content, thereby offering a convenient means of keeping customers informed about industry trends and company offerings. Blogs enable meaningful and shareable conversations with customers, fostering a more friendly and informal brand environment. It is important for bloggers to re

A Week of Projects

Image
As I reflect on the past week, I can't help but dive into the two projects I had for my graphic design classes. Let me give you a little background first - I'm a junior graphic design major with a minor in social media. I didn't start off as a graphic design major, so this year marks my sophomore year classes in this field. At the beginning of this semester, I was handed two projects that set the tone for the first four weeks. Let me tell you, each project was a whirlwind of creativity and innovation. It wasn't just about the final product; it was about the entire process that led me there. In Advanced Visual Communication Design, I was challenged to push the boundaries of my artistic abilities. Then my Design for Social Change course allowed me to use my skills to make a positive impact on society.              The Advanced Visual Communication Design course involved a wayfinding project that aimed to identify areas of improvement for the Wil

Chapter 5: Marketing with Instagram

Image
This week, I have studied Chapter 5, which focuses on marketing with Instagram. Instagram is a social networking platform that enables its users to share content with their followers through the creation of posts consisting of photos and videos. Users can enhance their content by applying filters and producing visually appealing photos and videos that cater to consumer preferences. Instagram can be effectively utilized for branding, shopping, and sharing preferred and lifestyle content. This mobile application provides users with the ability to view posts, express their appreciation through likes, engage in discussions through comments, and follow other users of their choice. The app gained immense popularity shortly after its launch, attracting 7 million users within nine months. Currently, the app remains highly active, with a monthly user base of 2 billion, predominantly consisting of individuals aged between 18 and 24. Instagram has proven to be a valuable platform for compa

A Day Full of ONU Activities!

Image
Picture this: it's a crisp Saturday morning, the sun is shining, and I'm up and ready to take on the day with my roommates. We had planned out a packed day to make the most of our Saturday off from racing. Our first order of business was a 4-mile run to loosen up our legs from the meet we had the night before at Cedarville. As we jogged along, we stumbled upon the Harvest and Herb Festival Parade and couldn't resist grabbing some candy to fuel us for the rest of our run. Sure, we were feeling a little sore, but we took it slow and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the parade. After our run and a quick pit stop at the parade, we headed back up to our apartment to refuel with some delicious breakfast of eggs and bacon. We took showers and then began the fun part of the day - finding the perfect fall outfits for the Harvest and Herb Festival. We were ready to go eat some fun foods and explore all the booths at the festival.         The Harvest and Herb Festival was an abso

The Expansion of Marketing on Facebook

Image
Chapter four delves into the social media site Facebook and its role as a platform for social media marketing. Founded by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 in a Harvard dorm room, Facebook has since become the most prominent social network worldwide, reaching over half of all internet users. With 2.961 billion monthly active users, Facebook caters to a wider age group compared to other social media platforms that target a younger audience. Facebook offers various types of pages, including local business, company, organization, institution, brand, artist, public figure, entertainment, and community. This chapter provides a comprehensive guide on setting up a professional business Facebook page and outlines the necessary steps to run a successful business on the platform. Facebook also utilizes Meta boasting the company as well as many others.      It is important that we examine the setup of a Facebook page and learn how to effectively leverage the platform for business growth and productivi

Denison XC Race!

Image
Last weekend was a thrilling one for me as I took part in my first cross country race of my junior season at Denison! I have been nursing a back injury for three weeks, which meant I had to do a lot of cross training and easy runs while incorporating speed workouts on our anti-gravity treadmill. Despite the setback, I was determined to make the most of the race by using it as a workout. My plan was to run with a slower pace group and treat it as a progression run, where I would gradually increase my speed with each mile and maintain it until the finish line. Since I hadn't done any on-ground workouts before the race, I saw it as an opportunity to prepare myself for the rest of the season.      As I stood at the start line, my heart was pounding with excitement. Finally, I was back in the game after missing out on the first meet. The sound of the gun going off was like music to my ears, and my body and mind were in perfect sync. I started off at a steady pace, but as my adre

Chapter 3: Social Media Marketing Strategy and Advertising

The current chapter delves into the dynamic marketing strategies that are emerging with the use of social media, aimed at enhancing customer experiences. In today's competitive business landscape, there is a growing emphasis on developing effective strategies to attract and retain customers. The chapter explores the key components of a social media marketing strategy and plan, highlighting the subtle differences between the two. Specifically, the strategy outlines the business's objectives and goals for incorporating social media into their marketing efforts, while the plan provides a roadmap for achieving those goals. This chapter offers valuable insights for individuals across various industries seeking to leverage the power of social media to drive business success as well as what social media advertising looks like today.      In the process of implementing a social media marketing strategy, each step holds significant importance. Of particular interest is the objectiv

Learning About The Social Media Marketing World With Kenya Mericle

Image
Hey there, welcome back to my blog! I'm super excited to share this week's post with you because it's all about my latest adventure - creating a podcast with some of my fellow classmates. I teamed up with Carly Coia and Kenya Mericle to dive into the world of Social Media Marketing and get the inside scoop on Kenya's job as a Graphic Design and Marketing Assistant at Ohio Northern University’s Office of Communications and Marketing. During the podcast, we delved into Kenya's background and gained insight into her experience as a graphic design major, particularly in relation to her recent projects involving social media marketing across various platforms on Ohio Northern's campus.       Our conversation explored the factors that motivated her to pursue a career in graphic design and the decision-making process that led her to choose this field of study. Additionally, we examined how her graphic design expertise has been instrumental in her work as a social
