Client Presentations and Decision
This past week in our Social Media Strategy and Campaign class, we embarked on an exciting phase of the course: selecting the client we’ll work with for the remainder of the semester. We were introduced to three unique businesses, each with its own set of objectives and challenges and our task was to evaluate their pitches to determine which one we felt most passionate about helping.
The goal of this project is to collaborate with real-world clients, providing us with hands-on experience in understanding business needs and crafting tailored social media strategies. Listening to the clients was a fun process because each business had different objectives, yet they all shared a common goal of achieving growth and success through strategic digital engagement.
The client pitches included:
The client pitches included:
- Tammy Schakett Fleming with Clan Fleming Scottish Society: Tammy’s organization is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the history and heritage of the Fleming clan. Her goal is to increase membership and enhance the society’s social media presence, particularly by engaging younger audiences who may not be as familiar with their Scottish heritage.
- Abby Ramos and Christin Woods with Unwrap a Story/Dyslexia Together: This organization aims to support individuals with dyslexia by raising awareness and providing resources to both families and educators. Abby and Christin are focused on using storytelling to break down misconceptions about dyslexia and their goal is to expand their reach on social media to connect with more people impacted by this learning disability.
- Lisa Hanthorn with Mimi’s House of Hair: Lisa runs a boutique hair salon and is seeking to grow her client base for her younger clients and build a stronger brand presence on social media.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this experience was hearing the personal stories behind each business. The passion and dedication each client brought to their work was inspiring and it was evident that their goals are deeply meaningful, both personally and in the growth of their businesses.
At the end of hearing from all the clients, we were asked to choose the one we felt we could work with best throughout the semester. Abby Matthews and I decided to partner with Tammy Schakett Fleming and the Clan Fleming Scottish Society. Tammy’s organization is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the history and heritage of the Fleming clan. Her goal is to increase membership and enhance the society’s social media presence, particularly by engaging younger audiences who may not be as familiar with their Scottish roots.
Working with real clients is one of the most valuable aspects of this course. It pushes us to think beyond the classroom and apply what we’ve learned in a practical, impactful way. I’m eager to begin collaborating with Abby and seeing how we can help Clan Fleming grow and thrive in the digital space.
As always, GO BEARS!
