Recapping the Weekend

This weekend was the first time in a while that I did not go home. Instead, I was on dog-sitting duty for Henley, a golden retriever puppy that belongs to one of my friends. Henley has gotten so big and, thankfully, much calmer. I was initially worried about watching her all weekend because she is usually so high energy, and I never seem to get anything done when she is around. This time, though, she was much better. She just followed me around and lounged on a chair in our apartment that fits her perfectly. I spent most of the weekend with my roommates, caught up on several tasks, and even enjoyed some relaxing time.

On Friday, my roommates and I stocked up on our favorite snacks and watched the Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson fights. I have never really been into boxing or fights in general, but we were all curious about this one. Ultimately, we agreed it was a letdown. Neither Mike Tyson nor Jake Paul brought much energy to the fight. I could not help but feel bad for Tyson. He is fifty-eight, while Paul is only twenty-seven, and it showed. Still, my roommates and I enjoyed hanging out and getting excited for the match, even though it felt like it went on forever.

Saturday was productive and fun. My roommate Nina and I started the day with a run, then picked up one of our best friends who was visiting for the weekend and went to Starbucks. We caught up over coffee before dropping her off at her boyfriend’s. Once we got back to the apartment, we showered and headed out to run some errands. We stopped at Aldi, Walmart, the UPS Store, Joann Fabrics and Chick-fil-A for lunch.

Afterward, I worked on my capstone lookbook for a bit before my roommates and I turned on the Ohio Northern men’s soccer game. Later that evening, we got ready and went to the Reagle Beagle Bar.

Sunday was my reset day. I woke up early to do laundry and spent most of the day working on my capstone and other homework. Sadly, we had to take Henley back to her owner, but overall, it was a productive and enjoyable weekend.

        There's a spot on campus that I absolutely adore. It's on the west side, where the ground is flat and the corn fields seem to stretch on forever, leading your gaze to the horizon line. Back to School!

Welcome to my first blog post!!      Here we go again! The feeling of being back on campus is like a breath of fresh air. We are all so excited to see each other and catch up on our summers. Taking a look back at the fun times we had when we were school free. There are so many familiar faces as well as many new ones. My classes start next week, but I'm back early for Cross Country. We get to move in early for Cross Country camp week. Getting settled early always beats the rush of people flocking in with their lives packed into a few cars. Moving in with my three roommates was a blast! We spent hours decorating our apartment, making it the perfect cozy and colorful space to call home for the next nine months. Denison XC Race!

        Last weekend was a thrilling one for me as I took part in my first cross country race of my junior season at Denison! I have been nursing a back injury for three weeks, which meant I had to do a lot of cross training and easy runs while incorporating speed workouts on our anti-gravity treadmill. Despite the setback, I was determined to make the most of the race by using it as a workout. My plan was to run with a slower pace group and treat it as a progression run, where I would gradually increase my speed with each mile and maintain it until the finish line. Since I hadn't done any on-ground workouts before the race, I saw it as an opportunity to prepare myself for the rest of the season.      As I stood at the start line, my heart was pounding with excitement.
