Homecoming Weekend Recap: A Joyful Celebration at ONU
This past weekend was Homecoming at Ohio Northern University and the energy on campus was absolutely infectious. The atmosphere was filled with joy, excitement and a whole lot of ONU pride. It was a blast seeing so many alumni friends return to campus to join in on the festivities.
The Homecoming parade was a highlight, as always. It was awesome seeing familiar faces, friends getting involved by riding floats, playing in the band and all the creative banners displayed throughout the parade. Afterward, I got to hang out with my alumni friends before heading to the women's soccer game.
I was puppy-sitting for a friend this weekend and Henley, a golden retriever puppy, was definitely the star of the show. She got so much attention and it was fun watching her soak it all up. Eventually, I made my way over to the soccer field to catch the first half of the women’s game. While they didn’t get the result they were hoping for, they still played really well and it was great to be there to support them.
Next up was the football game. I was shocked and ecstatic to see that ONU was already up by 28 points when I arrived! The team was on fire and the crowd was loving it. Halftime was just as exciting, with an amazing performance from the marching band and the crowning of the Homecoming king and king. Huge congratulations to Justin Hall and Ethan Giannotta, who were both well-deserved winners.
After the game, I headed back to my apartment to relax with my roommates and Henley. We decided to have a cozy night in, watching Inside Out 2. We also grabbed some McDonald’s McFlurries and played a few interactive Netflix movies. It was the perfect way to unwind after a busy day.
On Sunday, I attended the Inlet Dance Theatre Show, which was incredible. My roommate Nina Zibbel performed in the show and she did such an amazing job! The dancers were all so talented. It was truly a beautiful and inspiring performance.
Overall, I absolutely loved all of the Homecoming festivities. It’s weekends like these that make me appreciate being part of the ONU community and I can’t wait to come back as an alum to keep enjoying these traditions.
As always, GO BEARS!
